French Horn Commandments
1. Thou are always right. Always.
2. To show thy instrument is indeed thy best, proceed to showing the low brass that thy can play in their range. Then quickly proceed to showing up the trumpets in the high octaves.
3. If thou are playing less than FFFFFF, thou be wrong.
4. When warming up, make sure thou randomly squeels notes never written.
5. Thou mustn’t mingle with saxes. For they are...

(Our director then took the cover off of the intercom that’s next to him, reaches into it, takes out a wire and snaps it in half so you can no longer hear the anouncements.)

Our band director is going over rhythms on the overhead projector with the class. A flutist has to go over the rhythm several times before she chunks all the way through it.
BD: Okay, now do the whole line.
Flutist: Oh God.
BD: I’m not God, I’m just a guy with a screen.
